Soundsystem and Do512.com Present: DJ at Soundsystem!

Earn a chance to play in front of thousands at the Soundsystem 2012 October 31st at ACL-Live!

Overview:

SOUNDSYSTEM will feature world class EDM artists including FLIGHT FACILITIES, CLASSIXX, RAC, and DIRTY VEGAS in addition to a special guest opening DJ set from Austin's ANDREW PARSONS; plus DUB ACADEMY will be hosting the outdoor stage w/ local DJs/tastemakers LEARNING SECRETS & APPLIED PRESSURE.

Not only will SOUNDSYSTEM have some of the best EDM artists from around the world, but the event will also feature a sound and light sensory explosion conceived by the best designers in the space, rumored to be the same guys who created the lighting designs for Daft Punk, Deadmau5, and Kaskade.

Submit your best original production to the open round so that people who visit do512.com/soundsystem can hear what you're made of -- and vote for you if they like what they hear. The more votes an artist gets, the higher up on the list they'll go. The artist with the most votes at the end of the Final Round will win a spot to play live on the main stage on October 31st, 2012.

This contest is totally free to enter. You can submit an original track and get your fans to vote October 4th to October 21st at midnight CST.

The Open Round - Submit An Original Track

October 4th - October 21st

From October 4th-October 21st, artists will enter the contest by submitting their best original song and begin building their artist profile page. Once posted, artists will heavily encourage their fans to vote for their submission via the website, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and any other platforms available to them. Individuals can vote for each artist once per day. On October 21st at midnight CST, the open round will close and the 5 semi-finalists will be selected, comprised of the artists with the highest voter scores.

The Final Round

October 22nd - October 26th

On October 22nd, we will announce the 5 Artists who have made it through to the final round based on user votes. At that time, voting tallies will be wiped clean and voting will start again, continuing through Octber 26th at midnight CST. On October 27th, we will announce the DJ who has won the most votes. That DJ will perform October 31st on the main stage of Soundsystem Fest 2012, opening for Dirty Vegas, RAC, Classixx, and Flight Facilities!

Spread the Word

Follow Soundsystem on Twitter to get on-the-fly updates on the contest. Artists, get involved! Reply to the tweets and encourage retweets to spread the word about the contest and drive people to your submission. We’ll also be sending out updates on our Facebook fan page, so make sure you’re following us there as well – who knows, you might get some new fans!

If you or your friends create multiple accounts (or try to use bots to vote for you), it’s cheating, and we will disqualify those votes. So please, don’t waste your time or ours cheating. Do512 has full discretion to disqualify participants for cheating, please don’t make us enforce. See Official Rules here.

OFFICIAL RULES - DJ at Soundsystem Contest Platform

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.

Participation constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules. Play Pachanga ("Contest") begins at 12:00:01 a.m. Central Standard Time ("CST") October 4th, 2012 and ends at 11:59 p.m. CST on October 26th, 2012 ("Contest Period"). In these Official Rules, “Sponsor” means Soundsystem and its employees, officers, directors, members, managers, sponsors, and agents. Entries submitted after Contest Period will not be considered or judged. “Festival” means Soundsystem Fest scheduled for October 31st, 2012 in Austin, TX. The winner will be announced on or about October 27th, 2012.

Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Contest may only be entered from and in eligible jurisdictions. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.  By participating in the Contest, you are granting Sponsor an irrevocable right and license to publish, use, edit, and display any or all of the content in your submission, without further approval, without territorial, time, or other limitations, for any and all purposes, including, but not limited to, marketing, advertising, and promotional purposes, including audio visual uses.  By participating in the Contest, you are also granting Sponsor the irrevocable right and license to use your name, image, and likeness for any and all purposes, including, but not limited to, marketing, advertising, and promotional purposes, including audio visual uses.

The winners will be selected in accordance with the published judging procedure.  No alternative prize, cash, or other substitution is permitted except by Sponsor in the event of prize unavailability. Prizes are non-transferable. All federal, state, and local taxes are the sole responsibility of Winners. Finalists (or their parents or guardians if finalists are under the age of 18) will be required to sign a waiver and release in order to perform in Austin, TX as part of this Contest.

Eligibility:

Texas area residents must, upon request, show proof of residency in the state of Texas.  No more than one entry per household will be eligible.  No employee or immediate family member of Sponsor is eligible to enter the contest. Sponsor reserves the right to verify eligibility and to adjudicate on any dispute at any time.

Odds of winning. The odds of winning depend upon the number of entries received and the decisions of the judges.

General Terms and Conditions:

By participating in the Contest, entrant agrees that under no circumstances, including, but not limited to, negligence, will Sponsor, Contest sponsors, Festival sponsors, and their respective officers, directors, employees, members, shareholders, agents, successors, and assigns (the "Released Parties") be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of participation in the Contest, even if any or all of the Released Parties have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, therefore such exclusions may not apply to you. By participating in the Contest, entrant waives any and all rights to bring any claim or action related to his/her/its participation in any forum beyond one (1) year after the first occurrence of the kind of act, event, condition or omission upon which the claim or action is based. By entering, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor, which will be final. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any person, entry, vote, or e-mail address that Sponsor determines to be in violation of any term contained in these Official Rules. Sponsor and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors, and the respective employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, and representatives of each, are not responsible for and will not be liable for: (i) late, lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, stolen, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible or postage-due entries, notices, releases, forms, affidavits, or other correspondence; (ii) telephone, electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, interruptions or difficulties of any kind; (iii) failed, incomplete, garbled, or delayed computer transmissions; (iv) any condition caused by events beyond the control of the Sponsor that may cause the Contest to be disrupted or corrupted; (v) any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising in connection with or as a result from participation in the Contest or arising from the entrant's access to and use of the Internet site http://www.do512.com/soundsystem (and all related websites of Sponsor, including without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy, to the extent permitted by law; or (vi) any errors in any materials associated with the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any entrant who has material (media submitted to contest, or otherwise associated with entrant) inappropriate for Festival exposure. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Contest if any problem corrupts the administration, security, or operation of the Contest, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules will not constitute a waiver of that provision. Each person is entitled to one vote per email address per day.  Votes will be removed for any artist where 15% or greater of their votes come from one IP address.

Contest Timeline:

(1) Open Round:

Artists have from October 4th - October 21st to submit their best original song to generate as many votes as possible.  The Sponsor will publicly post the artist's musical submissions and the artist can spread the word everywhere: via their website, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, at their gigs, radio interviews, and more. At the end of the period, scores will be determined by voting score. The top 5 artists with the most public votes will move on to the next round.

(2) Finals:

On October 22nd, the 5 artists who have made it through to the final round will be announced by the Sponsor and their voting tallies will be cleared. The voting will resume with each contestant having exactly zero votes. This final voting portion will continue until October 26th, when the artist with the most public votes will be determined by the Sponsor. That artist will then be invited by the Sponsor to play on the Main Stage at Soundsystem Fest 2012.

For all submissions beginning with the open round: the person submitting an entry must own the content of the entry or have the legal authority to use the content.  In the event of a dispute as to authorship or right to use, sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entry, votes, or winner.  Sponsor’s decisions are final.  By participating in the Contest, entrant agrees that entrant shall not retain any rights in and to the master recordings (“Recordings”) and musical compositions (Compositions”) embodied on the mix submitted by entrant hereunder.  As between entrant and Sponsor, any and all Recordings and Compositions submitted by entrant shall be considered works-made-for-hire, and Sponsor shall own such Recordings and Compositions, together with the performances embodied therein and all copyrights therein and thereto, and all of the results and proceeds of entrant’s services hereunder throughout the universe in perpetuity, free of any and all claims.  To the extent the Recordings and Compositions are not considered works-made-for-hire, then entrant hereby transfers and assigns entrant’s entire copyright interest to Sponsor, including all renewals and extensions thereof, and waives any right of copyright termination or recapture in favor of Sponsor.

Prizes:

The winning artist(s) will play 1 (one) 30 - 45 minute live performance on the main stage of Soundsystem Fest.

A winner's list will be posted on the web site at http://do512.com/soundsytem & https://www.facebook.com/events/225493027569880/, on the World Wide Web at the conclusion of the Contest.
