Pangaea — Austin’s first ultra lounge fully devoted to the philosophy of bottle service, where the party is brought to guests, at their tables — is scheduled to open this fall in the city’s super-hot Warehouse District. “When you go clubbing in New York, Vegas, Miami Beach or San Tropez, it’s bottle service,” says Ault, who brought the bottle-club service concept to the United States. “Why? Because when executed properly, it’s more interactive, more inclusive, more fun, more of everything. I agree with both sides of all these statements…people hate pangaea yet they keep going back..including myself LOL but thier drinks are expensive…the bouncers usually a jerk…the bathrooms suck..I like the music…& the setting & everything else but I agree that this place possibly rips people off & also is not Austin friendly & is not Austin’s style… so it really just depends on what you wanna do or wanna be like..because this place does bring out the worst qualities in the worst type of people…yet I am not like this & I keep getting sucked in to go back!! LOL

I had a $140.00 tab and two drinks spilled on me without the management seeming to care. If you want to have a great time in Austin, this is NOT the place to do so. I have been to Pangaea numerous times with at least a $100+ tab yet the management seems to only be willing to care if you are an owner/investor. Never and I repeat never, choose to give this club your business. Randomly pick any place in Austin and it will treat you better.

What makes a town great is it’s people. The new condos and skyscrapers don’t bother me cause buildings aren’t what makes a town. It’s the people that make a town. And Pangaea brings out the worst people with the worst qualities – shallow, materialistic, judgemental, classist, arrogant, rude, selfish, me me me attitude people. Just look at the comments from the employees below, this is the type of person that likes Pangaea. There comments prove the point.

The clip joint has evolved over time into a sophisticated scam that targets a materialistic crowd eager to use their credit cards. The new take on the old scam is to offer a “VIP experience” in exchange for buying bottles of liquor at outrageously high prices. The setup is as follows: The customer is led to believe the experience will include great service, the chance to see celebrities, or the chance to meet attractive singles. Often the customer receives very little service, with the server only appearing twice: once to drop off the bottle (for customer to mix drinks on their own) and then again to drop off the bill. The scam includes hiring people to act as fellow club goers dancing and enjoying the club. Attractive women, hired as “floor managers”, start up conversations with customers unaware of the arrangement. Word of mouth advertising is spread by “party promoters”, who talk up the club or invite people to the club in way that disguises the commercial pitch as a normal conversation.

Just last week I was sharing a bottle with O.J.Simpson, Lance Armstrong, Nigel Tufnel and David St. Hubbins from Spinal Tap and tons of hot, hot ladies also. I couldn’t even believe how cool I was. I hope Pangaea never closes down so I can be this cool well into my 60’s.
