INSIDER TIPS

"There’s a court surface at Bartholomew Park, right across 51st from the Mueller water tower, where the roller derby teams practice. It’s a good spot!"

"How about the plaza around the LBJ library?"

"The top floor of parking garages are generally pretty decent."

"The Dell Diamond parking lot is large and mostly unused this time of year. Once you get used to turning and stopping, the Veloway is great. I've seen a lot of people skating in Mueller on the bike paths as well."

"Johnson creek hike and bike use to be my go to back in my roller blading days. The first section is novice level. Some tunnels and winding sections. Once you reach the downhill towards the bridge it gets pretty steep and dangerous. If you miss the bridge at the bottom of the hill. It's a nice drop. Then you have the typically rock littered portion where the cliff shed rocks onto the trail. Also a slight drop to the left before entering the last tunnel before the spaghetti bowl. From there the easier path is to the left across the bridge and to the AHS tennis court parking lot. We also use to ride in the storm drains right after the early tunnel."

"Northcross Mall"

"Walnut Creek paved trails, by Balconies district park, and on the east side. The middle section of the soon to be paved trail is dirt and doesn't connect."

"Long Center & Palmer have some nice sidewalks"

"People have been showing up at the long center at night, it’s like an outdoor roller rink. Someone usually brings a speaker"
