WHY WE FELL IN LOVE:
We fell in love with The Padre on a hot Summer afternoon on South 1st Street, where one of two Mellizoz Tacos food trucks is located. The Padre captured our heart almost immediately with its romantic mix of Ancho pulled pork, avocado, sautéed pineapple, and salsa fresca.

1911 Riverside
WHY WE FELL IN LOVE:
Because there's something special about these tacos; something deep inside of them that makes them more beautiful and worthy than any other tacos al pastor we've had so far in Austin. Is it the perfectly marinated pork, freshly diced onion, or cilantro that makes these tacos so damn date-able? We don't know for sure, but we do know that Rosita's Al Pastor makes Riverside a better place to be.

WHY WE FELL IN LOVE:
Cupid's arrow struck true when we ordered the Carne Asada tacos at this East Cesar Chavez food truck. In English, Trancas roughly translates to "weapons," and this taco joint certainly has an arsenal of deliciousness. Though there were plenty of options on Las Trancas varied menu, the Carne Asada tacos were the first to make us swoon. Perfectly charred beef, fresh lime, onions and cilantro sealed the deal for us.

Papalote - Pescado a Las Brasas
2803 S Lamar Blvd
WHY WE FELL IN LOVE:
Why the hell wouldn't we fall in love with Papalote's signature fish-based taco? Grilled tilapia topped off with a more than generous helping of chipotle sauce, replete with queso fresco, cabbage, and a slice of deliciously fresh avocado. This beautiful taco is a catch, literally. The one that didn't get away.

Taco Joint - Open Faced Migas Taco
2807 San Jacinto Blvd
WHY WE FELL IN LOVE:
Look at that taco. Just look at it. You can tell how perfect that flour tortilla is, can't you? That perfect amount of cilantro resting gently on a mountain of melted cheese, diced tomatoes, crispy tortilla chips, onion and eggs... As soon as we saw Taco Joint's Open Faced Migas Taco, we knew we had to have it.
Date any good tacos lately? <3
