People may say that Austin is losing its “weird,”
but we think that they’re just not looking hard enough. This is why we’ve put together a list of Austin’s finest curios shops. Pay a visit to any of these stores and you’ll see that there are plenty of small businesses still keeping it weird.

One of the latest shops to spring up in Austin, Curio's Candleworks is far beyond your typical candle shop. There are no baths or bodies, but rather delicate and detailed candles. Each is a part of a collection that reflects a specific intention set by the maker. Utilizing her knowledge of aromatherapy and spiritual studies, her selection tantalizes both the senses and the soul. Zodiac fanatics can come to collect candles specific to the current Zodiac of the season, and crystal collectors can snag a couple as they browse the shop.
Want both crystals and candles? They have candles infused with crystals to give off the greatest of vibes
Beyond their product offerings, you can come for a Reiki session or Tarot Card Readings to explore beyond the typical five senses.

If you’ve ever been out on Dirty Sixth (which let’s be honest, who hasn’t?) then chances are you’ve walked past this place without even knowing! Located next to the infamous Vulcan Lounge and Cheers Shot Bar, this curios shop has tons of Austin memorabilia for locals and tourists alike. If that’s not enough, the store is also home to The Museum of the Weird. There you can find a crazy collection of novelties and live sideshows in their Weird Theater.

Though Room Service is predominantly a vintage furniture store, they have their fair share of tchotchkes and knick-knacks too. If you’re ever looking for something to do on a Saturday afternoon, we suggest taking a stroll through their store. It’s like stepping into a time machine, highlighting each decade’s best decor and trends. Every room is filled with novelties that could complete any empty shelf space you have at home.
