Delicious Shakes in Austin

You'd think a milkshake would basically always be the same.

But in Austin, they've just gotten better and better. Many restaurants around town are creating unique flavors and mixing different types of ingredients (including those of the boozy variety) into your favorite sweet drink. You can expand your definition of what a milkshake can be when you see what these restaurants have created in the kitchen. Check out these Delicious Shakes in Austin

Amy's Ice Creams - Cookies & Cream

Various Locations

Amy's is usually the first place that comes to mind when wanting a good ole scoop of ice cream. But did you know they also have some killer shakes? You can pick from any of your favorite Amy's ice cream flavors and toppings, and they'll blend it into the ultimate milkshake. For us, it's the combo of their Oreo ice cream AND some extra Oreo pieces blended in for some crunch that keeps us coming back for more. Don't forget to add toppings like hot fudge, sea salt, waffle cone pieces, and more.

P. Terry's - Shake of the Month

Various Locations

A burger ALWAYS tastes better with a shake, and that's certainly the case at P. Terry's. We love P. Terry's for being an Austin original, but also because there are locations all over town making it easy to get one of their iconic hand spun milkshakes just about anywhere. They have some of their traditional flavors like vanilla, strawberry and double chocolate on the menu all year,  but we almost always opt for their monthly specialty shake. These flavors are creative and seasonal, making you want to come back for it over and over again before it's gone at the end of the month. Some past flavors have included everything from Nutella and Reese's Peanut Butter to Pumpkin Pie. Visit their site to check out the current shake of the month.

Dirty Martin's Place - Chocolate

2808 Guadalupe St

Another burger and shake combo you must try can be found at Dirty Martin's Place. An Austin tradition since 1926, UT students and Austinites will both tell you Dirty's has the best shakes in town. They keep it simple with just a few reliable, delicious options: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and Oreo milkshakes or malts. If you're more of a fan of floats, you can choose between A&W Root Beer, fountain Coke, and Big Red.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar - Nutella Chocolate Pretzel

Various Locations

Hopdoddy is mostly known for their burgers, but their milkshakes are also an immensely popular menu item. People go crazy for a chocolate covered pretzel, so why not try one in a milkshake? If for some insane reason you're not into the idea of a Nutella Chocolate Pretzel milkshake, no worries, Hopdoddy has a variety of other milkshake choices to choose from. These include Salted Caramel, OREO, Mochaccino, and more. Can't decide between a cocktail and a milkshake? Opt for one of their boozy shakes!

The Yard Milkshake Bar - Cookie Monster

3400 Esperanza Crossing

Mr. Cookie Monster himself would be honored and pleased with this one, that’s for sure. This over-the-top mountain of deliciousness is served in a chocolate jar coated with cookie crisp, filled with The Yard’s cookie monster ice cream and topped with whipped cream, a cookie dough sandwich, fudge, and marshmallow cream – really just a damn hot journey from start to finish! The Cookie Monster is not the only gargantuan-sized specialty shake, as The Yard has quite an array of toppings and flavors fit for any sweet tooth.
