Do Pilates In Austin

Yes to Live Music, but also: Austin might be the Pilates Capital Of the World...

And if not, we're pretty darn close. There are over 200 studios in our area, according to well-known directories and review sites like ClassPass. So whether you're new to Pilates or a seasoned pro, you've got plenty of options around here.

Rather than give you a giant list, we've narrowed things down to our absolute favorite spots, with a variety of studios and instructors that offer classic Pilates, contemporary reformer, mat Pilates, Pilates-inspired fitness and more.

ATX PILATES

Various Locations

If you're looking for reformer Pilates in Austin, ATX PILATES is probably the place to start. Founded by Erica Hogan after Pilates helped her recover from years of running, it was created around the idea of making strength-building movement feel supportive and non-judgmental. The studio offers a range of reformer-based classes that can work for both newcomers and experienced practitioners. It's definitely a good fit for people who want Pilates with a fitness-studio feel.

ToddPilates Fitness

2919 Menchaca Rd, Suite 200

This one' been an Austin fixture since 2004, and there's a reason it has such a loyal local following. Todd Gibbs started ToddPilates after Pilates transformed his own chronic back problems, and his "Pilates for the people" philosophy is unusually focused on affordability, accessibility, and making fitness fun, with flexible pricing and classes that don't expire. PLUS: the studio is very inclusive and welcoming and has a super friendly vibe that makes you feel like you're part of a community!

AM RADIO PILATES

902 N Lamar Blvd

AM RADIO is a great spot for the person who wants to get a little more serious about Pilates. The studio sticks close to the classical Pilates tradition, using traditional apparatus and small classes where instructors can really pay attention to how you're moving. Sessions are intentionally small, allowing instructors to pay close attention to alignment, technique, and the details of each movement.

ALIGN Pilates Studios

Various Locations

We're featuring this one because they really focus on teaching you one-on-one. ALIGN offers a blend of classical and contemporary Pilates in small-group reformer classes, with an emphasis on individualized instruction. ALIGN was built around a somewhat unusual mission in the Pilates world: raising the bar for instructor education. And with locations in both West and East Austin, it's also one of the more accessible options.

Novi Pilates ATX

1508 W 34th St

For those looking for something smaller scale and more intimate, we recommend Novi on 34th.The reformer sessions are intentionally intimate, so you're not just another person in a room following along with the instructor. The workouts bring in contemporary strength-focused movements while keeping the emphasis on control and form, making Novi feel more personal than the bigger boutique studios.

good pilates

4525 Guadalupe St, Suite 100

This one was started by a former Radio City Rockette (and native Austinite), and we think the name of the place says it all. There's doing Pilates, and then there's good pilates, where they really focus on precise movements and alignment. This studio takes an athletic, technique-driven approach, using the reformer to build strength while putting considerable attention to good mechanics while you're working out.

Ritual Moves Pilates

1211 E 11th St

While a lot of Austin studios have a certain philosophy, Ritual Moves is more modern and lifestyle-oriented. They not only offer classical Pilates, but also reformer and heated mat classes. Try out the Inner Strength courses if you want to incorporate weights into your regimen. Ritual Moves has also built its identity around "embodied" movement rather than just exercise, combining Pilates with breathwork, somatic movement, meditation, music, and even infrared heat. Located in East Austin, this spot is considered VERY Austin, and it's one of the more popular studios on this list.

Somaspace

1611 W 5th St, #140

Somaspace is where you go when you want to get beyond the standard reformer workout. Along with classical Pilates, the studio offers Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis, giving it a more movement-education-oriented feel than most boutique fitness studios. It's especially worth a look for dancers, athletes, and experienced Pilates students.

Olga Roberts Studio

401 W 3rd St

Olga Roberts Studio takes a quieter, more personalized approach to Pilates. With its focus on private and small-group sessions, it's a particularly good option if you want to work on specific movement goals or really learn the method. The approach reflects Olga Roberts' belief that instruction can be adapted closely to the individual rather than delivered as a one-size-fits-all workout.

Flow Pilates ATX

908 E 5th St, Suite 114

If a packed boutique class isn't your thing and you'd rather have an instructor who can actually see what you're doing, Flow Pilates is worth checking out. It's a newer East Austin boutique built around keeping things simple, which is a breath of fresh air, particularly if you're a bit intimidated by this whole "Pilates" thing. The studio takes a traditional approach to Pilates while incorporating contemporary exercises and equipment.

Sheine Pilates

1813 W Anderson Ln, #1815

The philosophy at this spot centers on making reformer Pilates feel personal and approachable. With only a few people in each class, instructors at Sheine Pilates can tailor exercises and corrections rather than simply leading everyone through the same routine. It's a nice middle ground for someone who wants a challenging workout but also appreciates a more personal, low-key studio.

sharpbody Pilates

2823 E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd

If you want to actually work up a sweat, this is the move. sharpbody is for the Austinite who thinks Pilates should leave them feeling like they really worked out. Founder Jen Sharp has spent 18 years in the Pilates and barre world, including creating Pilates and barre programs. Reformer classes are mixed with barre, jumpboard, strength work, and recovery options, so there's more variety here than at a traditional Pilates studio.

Method Pilates

1600 S 1st St, #130

If your ideal class includes a good playlist, lots of movement, and walking out feeling pleasantly destroyed, Method is probably up your alley. Its reformer classes blend Pilates principles with strength and endurance work, making them feel more like a workout than a traditional Pilates lesson

BE Fit Modern Pilates

Various Locations

This one's technically a chain (it originated in California) but we wanted to include it because it's technically Pilates-inspired rather than traditional Pilates, and it's become pretty popular here in Austin. BE Fit's XFormer workouts use slow, controlled resistance to create a seriously challenging strength workout, with instructors layering in plenty of modifications and motivation.

Shape Method

Various Locations

This is kind of wild, but this is the SECOND studio on this list that was founded by a former Radio City Rockette! Jennifer McCamish, a UT Austin dance graduate, returned to Texas after 13 years in New York and started Shape Method, which explains why the studio's approach is more dance-oriented. It explicitly incorporates injury prevention, rehabilitation, pre/postnatal work, senior fitness, and athletic conditioning. It also has TWO Austin locations, which makes it a more convenient option for your commute.
