Austin is burning, and not just during the summer.
Our drag scene is roaring right now, and it’s never been a better time to dive into the scene locally. From the classic pageants to shows pushing boundaries, you’d be hard-pressed to not find a good reason to support the local drag community. Our local queens are beyond impressive, and while we would love to highlight them all, these are a few of the queens building out shows that have made the Austin drag scene burn so bright.

Cynthia Lee Fontaine has competed in Season 8 & 9 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, was awarded Miss Congeniality in Season 8, hosts Drag Race watch parties at Oilcan Harry's, performs on shows around town, makes music, has a YouTube channel, and so much more. So take a step back, honey. Cynthia actually does it all.

CUPCAKE is well-known and well-loved around town for being: a member of the infamous PooPoo Platter showcase, a cast member of Crave at Oilcan Harry’s and a colorful pop-art icon, just to name a few.

The journalist/documentary queen we all need, Maeve now hosts “Maeve to the Haven” on her YouTube channel where she interviews local Austin entertainers. You may recognize her from Crave at Oilcan Harry’s or from the glam costumes she adorns herself with (and that we're jealous of, seriously).

Get educated, bitch!!! Celia Light is known for doing the Lord's work by hosting drag events and watch parties around the UT campus at places like Dobie, where we all know, needs some light and joy. Today, you can find her Sunday, Friday, and Saturday at Oilcan Harry's.

You better vote, bitch. Colleen DeForrest DEMANDS IT! Colleen doubles as a US Senator persona and whips us all into shape about the necessity of voting. She performs around the city and can be found with a cocktail in hand.

This dazzling queen puts a straight up diamond to shame. Her outfits alone make our jaws drop, but even beyond her impeccable taste of all things glam, Scarlett has made a name for herself in the Austin drag community through her hosting skills at drag brunches and drag bingos, some of our favorite events.

Did she really serve us this look? Yes, yes she did. Alysha's makeup skills are - to say the least - fucking crazy good. From a voodoo doll to an elf queen, Alysha could easily double as a makeup artist for Marvel movies, but we're so glad she's enriching the Austin drag community instead. (Who even likes Marvel movies?)

Lady Grackle is the show director at Highland Lounge, which means she has a huge part in making some of the best drag shows in town happen every week. Dubbed Miss Austin Entertainer of the Year 2019, it's no wonder she's kicking ass all over town. Find her hosting Tucked at Highland, one of the most fun recurring shows.

If she looks familiar, that would be because she hosts almost every drag event in town. Self-dubbed “the Brows of Texas,” Nadine is a cornerstone of the drag community, and she holds it up well. Normally, you can find her hosting Austin’s Next Drag Superstar at Sellers Underground for some Monday night relief.
