Get you some fresh french fries, friend.
Listen, we all do it. We order the burger just to get the fries and not look like a complete and utter madman eating fried potatoes as the main dish. But we're here to tell you that you no longer have to use that burger as a front. At these hot spots for our Favorite French Fries in Austin, you could (and should) totally skip the whole main-course thing and go straight for what your heart truly desires: those dang ol' french fries, honey.

Michelin Starred Chef and owner of Sushi by Scratch and Pasta Bar, Phillip Frankland Lee collabed with pro skateboarder Neen Williams to create this Wagyu cheeseburger joint. With multiple locations in Austin, Not A Damn Chance has quickly become one of the most popular spots to grab a dang good burger. And all great burgers need to be accompanied by the perfect fry. At NADC that's certainly the case, as they come fried in Wagyu tallow. We recommend ordering them Beast Mode style, covered in cheese, diced pickles, slightly tamed jalapeños, special sauce, and seasoning.

Crinkle-cut fries are arguably the best form of french fry for one main reason - that crunch. Golden Castle (located at Marlow) serves theirs three different ways: plain with a special sauce on the side, cheese fries, or chili cheese fries topped with house chili, cheese sauce, hatch chiles, and onions. However, It's that cheese sauce that always keeps us coming back for more. I mean, just look at that drip.

If you're more of a shoestring fry fan, then you need to make your way over to Clark's Oyster Bar ASAP. They are probably the most thin and crispy fries you've ever had and come served in a heaping pile, ideal for sharing with the table (or not). They are the perfect accompaniment to their lobster roll, stuffed inside a cheeseburger, or why not just stick a fork in there and enjoy all that goodness by themselves?

Aaron Franklin's newest restaurant, Uptown Sports Club, is a must on this list. The po'boys, gumbo, and burger are all delicious on their own but made even better with a side of steaming hot, crisp, and salty fries. If you're wanting to enjoy your fries in a fancy way, try the steak frites. They are walk-in only, so plan accordingly!

As if the allure of $6 margaritas at Workhorse all day, every day isn't enough to keep us coming back to this North Loop staple, the french fries make it a pretty sweet deal. Best enjoyed with a side of ranch (don't call us weird), these crispy + thin parmesan garlic fries are the cherry on top of a wonderful night spent with your best pals in your favorite neighborhood bar.

If you live in South Austin, you've more than likely had at least one meal at Black Sheep Lodge. It's a great spot to chill after work, catch a game, or start your evening. In addition to having some of the best drink specials around (and more bar games than you can shake a stick at), they whip up some killer sweet potato fries, tots, and more.

Sandy's is one of the O.G. places in Austin for a great burger and fries, which is why it's still around after all these years. Here you can walk up or drive through for the unbeatable combo of a cheeseburger, fries, and a Coke. Pick your timing carefully though, Sandy's can accrue quite a line on the weekends.

Hopdoddy attracts its daily, lengthy line for a reason: their burgers and fries are exceptionally good. The burger-specializing joint has been featured in numerous best-of lists since it opened in 2010. Their fries are hand cut from select Kennebec potatoes and are always on point. Pro tip: check out one of their North locations for much speedier access to the fries.

Renowned for their fusion stylings, Chi'lantro is perhaps most famed for their Kimchi Fries. This dish turns the ubiquitous french fry into a masterpiece through the careful addition of seasoned meats (spicy chicken, soy glazed chicken, fried tofu, spicy pork, or bulgogi) layered with caramelized kimchi, sesame seeds, a magic sauce, onions, cilantro, and Sriracha.

Not only does Casino El Camino serve ginormous burgers, they include a heaping plate of french fries to go with 'em. Though they're world-famous for the aforementioned burgers, Casino El Camino's french fries are the underrated stars of the show. As a bonus, there's also a jukebox in the corner so that you can jam out while you chow down.

The Salty Sow is a self-described 'American Gastropub', which means that their menu has slightly more experimental items on display. Along with things like candied pork belly and charcuterie, you can also find The Salty Sow's gussied up version of french fries. This gourmet version of the old standby is triple fried with duck fat, which is even more deliciously decadent than it sounds.
