May Is National Bike Month And Austin Is Celebrating Big Time

May is National Bike Month!

Austin joins hundreds of cities around the country celebrating National Bike Month in May, and Bike Month ATX is encouraging all Austinites to give bicycling a try. Through a month-long celebration of biking, the purpose is to promote a healthier lifestyle, reduce carbon emissions, and foster a more connected and vibrant community. Join along in spreading the joy of cycling and making Austin a more bike-friendly city all month long.

The biggest event of the month – Bike To Work Day – will take place on Friday, May 16. Bike To Work Day is a national celebration of bicycle commuting. Ghisallo Cycling Initiative is partnering with local businesses and organizations to host “Fueling Stations'' across the city to greet, reward, and educate Bike To Work Day participants during their morning commutes. Don’t miss the central City Hall Celebration which will include City of Austin Council Members, Austin Transportation Department staff, and other guest speakers. At the end of the day, meet back up for the After Party at Central Machine Works for some live music, drink and food specials, and a chance to hang out with old friends and probably make some new ones.
