You've seen them everywhere by now. Hordes of figures ambling along the city's sidewalks, streets, and pathways at all hours of the night. We're not referring to a zombie outbreak... We're talking about people playing the
enormously,
incredibly, nearly
unbelievably popular Pokémon Go, which was released on iOS and Android this July. If you're one of the many, many people who are joyfully reliving your Pokémon nostalgia in the city of Austin, we've got some good news for you.
- We want to reiterate that it's a-okay to be as heartily invested as you are in an augmented reality game about fictionalized pocket monsters marketed (originally) to children. We're not trying to patronize you, seriously, we're all playing it.
- Austin, Texas is swarming with Pokémon, and we've got the map to prove it.
As you can see, there's so much Pokémon-related activity that it barely even fits into a screenshot, which is why you'll want to interact with that map on google's community map right here. While you're there, you can use the map to toggle between Gyms, Popular Farming Spots, and PokéStops. In fact, our own Do512 office on South Lamar is a PokéStop. Just take a look!
While we're on the subject of Popular Farming Spots, the Long Center for the Performing Arts happens to be a real hot spot for them. Come by on the evening of Wednesday, August 10th for our Sound & Cinema event and enjoy a free screening of "Labyrinth" ft. Sweet Spirit while you hunt for your ultra rare Pokémon. More information about that is available here. Now, go catch 'em all!
