Austin Run Clubs

It's no secret that Austin's one of the most active cities in the US, 


and with that comes no shortage of run clubs. Whether you’re a beginner, an advanced runner, looking to train for your first marathon, or just want a casual way to make friends outside of the bars, there’s a run club for you. Here are just some of the run clubs in Austin:

Morning Jo’s

  • When? Every Tuesday at 6AM
  • Where? Jo's Coffee (1300 S Congress Ave) 
  • Workout Details: 4-6 miles at various paces 
Morning Jo’s meets every week at 6AM on South Congress. This group is great for beginners and intermediate runners who are looking to run with a large group and meet new people. The run is followed by breakfast tacos and coffee at Jo’s.

5Run2

  • When? Wednesdays at 6:30AM
  • Where? Kerbey Lane (3003 S Lamar Blvd) 

  • Workout Details: 5K or 5mi route options
This group is great for both beginners and seasoned runners, they have socials outside of the run club as well if you’re looking for a social group.

Austin Front Runners

  • When? Tuesday/Thursday at 6PM, Saturday at 10AM
  • Where? The Rock at Town Lake (2102-2104 Stephen F Austin Dr) 

  • Workout Details: 3-10 mile options, all skill levels welcome
Austin Front Runners is one of Austin’s LGBTQ running clubs. They're open to all levels of runners, including walkers. If you’re looking for a welcoming group of all skill levels, this is the club for you. If you want to learn about more queer-friendly workouts in Austin, check out our list here

The Ship of Fools

  • When? Tuesdays at 6PM
  • Where? Location: O. Henry Middle School (2610 W 10th St) 
  • Workout Details: Varying track workouts

  • Workout details: Tempo workouts

  • When? Saturdays at 7AM (don’t be late, they are strict on time!)
  • Where? Brent Grulke Plaza on Town Lake (9307 Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail) 

  • Workout details: 4-20 miles, 7-11 min pace groups

The Ship of Fools is run by coach Al Cumming and is geared toward intermediate runners or those who are dedicated to becoming a better runner. They don’t use social media and are truly about the running - don’t be late because they’ll take off without you!

East Side Beer Runners

  • When? Wednesdays at 6:30PM
  • Where? Central Machine Works (4824 E Cesar Chavez St) 
  • Workout details: Workout changes weekly

This group is exactly as it sounds, people who love to run and love beer. They switch up the workout each week and follow it up with pints at Central Machine Works!

Sunrise Track Club 

  • When? Thursdays at 6AM
  • Where? Austin High School Track (2100 Stephen F Austin Dr) 
  • Workout Details: Track workouts that change weekly, open to all

Sunrise Track Club is all about track workouts, helping you improve on your speed. It’s female-led by Bex Wells and is open to all levels.

Desnudo Run Club

  • When? Thursdays at 6:20AM
  • Where? Desnudo Coffee (2505 Webberville Rd) 
  • Workout details: 1 mile walk, 3 or 5 mile run at various paces

Desnudo Run Club is super laid back and great for beginners. They do a quick stretch before running along Boggy Creek Trail, followed by coffee at Desnudo after.

Good Grief Running

  • When? Monday’s at 7AM
  • Where? Noble Joe Coffee Co. (1620 E Riverside Dr)
  • Workout Details: 2.5 or 4 mile at various paces

Good Grief Running is a mission-backed run club founded to help people find the Good in Grief through running and community. It’s laid back and open to all running levels and is followed by coffee at Noble Joe Coffee Co.

Your Mother’s Run Crew

  • When? 3rd Thursday of Every month at 6:30PM
  • Where? New Balance (South Congress)
  • Workout Details: 3 or 5 miles, 8-13 min paces + a walking group

Your Mother’s Run Crew is an all-female run club, their mission is to make sure that no woman runs alone. This is a great club for beginners and women looking for a mission-backed run community.

Endorphins Running

  • When? Mondays at 6:30AM
  • Where? Location: Swedish Hill
  • Workout Details: ~4-5 miles, various paces

  • Where? Location: Better Half Coffee & Cocktails
  • Workout Details: ~8+ miles, 8-11 min/mile paces

Endorphins' Monday morning runs are great for intermediate runners looking to run with a small-medium size group! A great community to join if you’re looking to meet new friends who are involved in the running community. They also host a long run every Saturday that’s great for intermediate runners or those training for long-distance races. Really welcoming, friendly group of people if you are looking to make friends who enjoy early Saturdays.

Purple Dragon

  • When? Saturdays at 6:30AM
  • Where? Changes weekly 
  • Workout Details: 10-20 miles ~7min pace

Purple Dragon is an advanced run club for those who enjoy long runs followed by tacos. Be sure to follow them on social media for starting locations each week.

Raw Running

  • When? Tuesdays at 7PM
  • Where? Mean Eyed Cat (1621 W 5th St)
  • Workout details: Various workouts ranging from hill springs, track workouts, and other hard efforts

Raw changes their runs each week, and these runs are definitely meant to push you. Their workouts are pretty tough and would be best for intermediate to advanced runners. Check their Instagram each week for the workout.

Cooldown Running

  • When? Wednesdays at 6:30PM
  • Where? Lou’s Barton Springs or Shake Shack (check social for weekly updates)
  • Workout details: 1-5 mile run/walk

Cooldown Running is a social club disguised as a run club. It’s great for all levels, especially beginners and is a great run club to meet new people. The run is followed by drinks and food at Lou’s or Shake Shack each week.

When: Wednesdays 6-8pm

Where? Nike Store - 1221 South Congress Ave

Workout details: Free 5k group run


This group run is for all levels (walk, jog, or run), and there's drinks and snacks provided too!
