The Best Birria in Austin

Heard of birria?

Originating in Jalisco and now *thankfully* prevalent in Austin, birria has become a crucial part of the taco scene here. These tacos filled with juicy, stewed meat dipped in flavorful consomes happen to be one of our favorite meals. Tacos, quesadillas, and even ramen — birria can be served in a variety of tasty ways. Here are our picks for the Best Birria in Austin.

Birrieria Mama Rosa

Various Locations

You've probably seen some of their pink trailers around town and wondered how good it is. Well we're here to tell you to stop next time and get some birria, because Birrieria Mama Rosa is SO good. Order the Quesabirria Special and you'll get three cheesy birria tacos topped with onions, cilantro, and lime, and a side of their delicious consomme. If you're wanting to try something besides a taco, go for the Birria Ramen, burrito filled with Birria, or a Pizza Quesabirria. You can order online here.

Palo Seco

2400 Burleson Rd

At the top of our list is Palo Seco, and if you've tried this one, you'll agree their birria is incredible. This family-owned taco truck has a variety of forms for you to enjoy your birria. While you can't go wrong with the original birria plate with consome, we recommend getting extra cheesy and ordering their queso taco and/or the birria grilled cheese sandwich.
