Matt's, known in Austin for being the go-to spot for Mexican Martinis and Bob Armstrong Dip, also happens to have some of the best nachos in town. They have three different options: Beef Fajita, Chicken Fajita, and Bean and Cheese, all equally delicious options to start of your Tex-Mex feast. Be sure to get there early to put your name down, as they don't take reservations and the waitlist tends to get pretty long.

Turf N' Surf, located in Lavaca Street Bar, has the classic mom-and-pop vibe and family-friendly atmosphere, but these nachos separate the grownups from the kiddos. One does not simply twist Cajun and Tex-Mex, but this food truck has the culinary and cultural finesse to do just that and leave munchers humbled and satisfied. It's up to you which protein-topping road you choose to take: get coastal with the blackened crawfish or test your strength with the buffalo chicken that packs a punch with cheesy-spicy perfection. Many have referred to their Blackened Ribeye Nachos (topped with black beans, jalapenos, jack queso, sour cream and pico) as the best in town, so be sure to give those a try as well.

Consistently ranked as one of the best in Austin, Chuy’s funky atmosphere and damn good Tex-Mex is perfect after a day at Zilker Park. Among a menu packed with winners, Chuy's carries a special nacho dish they've dubbed "Panchos." Delicious nachos are topped with heaps of fajita chicken (or beef!), guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapenos, cheese, and refried beans.

El Taquito is a pioneer on the frontier of Mexican food in America. From its genesis in the 1980's as a taco cart in Northern Mexico to establishing itself on Riverside Drive, El Taquito inspires innovation in the art of cuisine. Order the nachos with the classic works or smothered with toppings and meat to your heart's desire. Pair this dish with a margarita and friends after work, and your new mantra will be "inhale nachos, exhale stress."

If you're ever stumbling down East 6th and catch the familiarly thick and seductive aroma of Austin Tex-Mex, follow your nose because that smell is Bomb Tacos' bomb nachos beckoning you to nacho nirvana. A generous portion of fresh tortilla chips can be spotted just beneath the mountain of chicken or beef, beans, pico de gallo, jalapeños, and cheese. Once you get a whiff, the only choice you'll have is whether you'll chow down before or after your night out on 6th Street.

Ever get the craving for Cali-Mexican cuisine cooked up in a downtown Austin parking lot? There's a good chance you will after a taste of the Super Nachos at Super Burrito on 5th. It's located in The Tiniest Bar of Texas, but don't let that fool you - they are proof that massive flavor can come from tiny restaurants. PS. They have another location up north!

Austin's bona fide Aztec-inspired Mexican fare deserves a top spot for its overall dedication to authenticity. Eric and Sergio Varela brought their traditional recipes from their mother's "Fonda" in Tejupilco in Southern Mexico, which have satisfied the agave tequila and taco cravings of Austinites for 28 years. The Tejano Nachos are covered in just the right amount of fresh toppings and the meat-saturated menu provides more than enough variety to accompany the most seasoned meat lovers in Texas. A plate of these will disappear almost as fast as the blue agave margaritas we recommend pairing them with.
