Chivata Goat Cheese Lovers

1311 S 1st St

This new food truck on South 1st has quickly become one of our staff favorites at Do512. Focused on all things goat cheese, Chivata offers a variety of menu options for taste buds of all kinds. They start with their seven different marinated goat cheese varieties: jalapeno, smoked bell pepper, anchovy, caper, guava, natural, and basil pesto. Take a jar home, but only after staying for a bite to eat. We recommend the Goat Love Boats, The Bold Goat, and the Goatlicious cassava bread.

Comedor

501 Colorado St

Comedor is like that new kid at school who instantly becomes way more popular than you ever will be - but you can't even resent them because they are, in fact, amazing. Remember that kid? The hype for this restaurant is similarly well-deserved. Dedicate your first artful cocktail (like the bright Tequila Carrot) at Comedor to all things that are effortlessly cool. Then move on to a few courses of beautifully plated modern Mexican food, from Red Snapper Aguachile to the buzz-generating Bone Marrow Tacos.

Oseyo

1628 E Cesar Chavez St

The early word on Oseyo's Korean home cooking is that it's damn good. The menu boasts bold dishes like Korean-style fried chicken, dolsot bibimbap (a rice bowl served on sizzling-hot stoneware), grilled meats and whole fish, and an array of stews and soups. We can't wait to sample the spicy flavors and fun cocktails at this new joint.

Sixth & Waller

1108 E 6th St

Located inside the trendy new East Austin Hotel, this diner claims to serve "internationally-inspired comfort food", which sounds like a winner to us. Especially when the menu includes housemade pies. Other intriguing standouts include Blueberry Cream Cheese French Toast (served all day, along with other breakfast offerings), a Chicken Fried Steak sandwich served with black pepper gravy, and Coconut Jasmine Fried Rice made with avocado and edamame. There's also a full bar offering zippy cocktails, from a Champagne Paloma to the New Orleans classic Sazerac.

Uroko

1023 Springdale Rd

Uroko's appeal is threefold: the space offers Temaki (hand-roll sushi) in a casual setting; Thursday night sushi classes; and on weekends, 45-minute sushi omakase (a short but unique experience, in which the chef presents their choice of ingredients and presentations). Visit the Uroko website to reserve something special, or just swing by for a meal of tasty hand rolls. This new spot was founded by the team behind Kome, so you know it's gonna be good.
