Sushi Roku

405 Colorado St

One of he newest sushi spots to downtown Austin, Sushi Roku, is known for their non-traditional approach to sushi, incorporating ingredients from Latin America and Europe throughout their menu. With their other locations in Southern California and Las Vegas, you know you're going to be getting the good stuff. Their menu has a bit of everything, with cold and hot apps, hababi (their signature crispy rice with your choice of spicy tuna, yellowtail, avocado, or wagyu), robata skewers, sashimi, rolls, and entrees. They also have a whole "farm" section for those friends who want to come along but don't partake in raw fish. Visit Sushi Roku for their happy hour daily from 4-6pm for discounted bites and drinks. You can make a reservation here

Try the Tokubetsu Roll: Crab and cucumber roll topped with toro, sea bream, white truffle pesto and a yuzu vinaigrette (pictured above).

Neighborhood Sushi

1716 S Congress Ave

From the moment you enter through their private, hidden door off of buzzing South Congress, you know you are in for a treat. The combination of local Texas ingredients and Japanese culinary techniques make every bite at Neighborhood Sushi burst with flavor. Not to mention it's part of MML Hospitality, the team behind some of Austin's best hottest restaurants like Sammie's Italian and Clark's Oyster Bar, so you know you'll be getting one of the best meals in town. Their menu ranges from seasonal tempuras to fresh nigiri, so there's an option for everyone. It is on the pricier side, so this a good one for an intimate night or just an excuse to treat yo self.

Uchi Uchiko

801 S Lamar Blvd

4200 N Lamar Blvd

Austin is not only home to one of the best sushi restaurants in America - we have TWO of them. Uchi and Uchiko both share a penchant for innovative and delightful combinations, featuring seasonal ingredients. They are farm to table, in that Japan is the farm and the table is in Austin. Both menus rotate frequently, dependent upon what is available locally in Tsukiji market Tokyo, and their cold and hot plates often showcase the vegetation of Austin.

Try the Kinoko Nigiri: Scored and seared trumpet mushroom, cooked in brown butter and finished with flaky sea salt (pictured above). Hands down one of the best bites in Austin, you're going to want 20 of them.
