Lustre Pearl Re-Opens at New East Side Location

Here's some good news for all of you Lustre Pearl fans out there. After closing its doors on Rainey Street to make room for a 250,000-square-foot mixed-use project, Lustre Peal East is now open for business! Located at 114 Linden Street in East Austin, Lustre Pearl East welcomes you back into the very same house that sparked the Rainey Street entertainment district in 2009. (Complete with the original Ping-Pong tables.)

The original 19th century house was picked up and moved to the new location, and has been fully restored with a kitchen and outdoor patio. The unique endeavor encompassed the move of the building, followed by meticulous restoration to its beloved luster incorporating nearly every original element down to the furniture and gate, which had been in storage as permitting and restoration processes were completed.

"I have real love for this house. Walking in is like walking in your old home; it looks and feels the same - you see the memories that you made at every turn," says Bridget Dunlap. "It was crucial to restore this incredible house, to replicate everything the original Lustre - built in 1895 - embodied, to give our customers back the space they made an institution. It’s been a labor of love and we are excited to once again have a full house."

"You don’t know what the future brings, but you have to honor the roots - this house is 120 years old. It was important to save it from being demolished, let its character represent parts of Austin that won’t exist again," says Dunlap. "The stark differences in the two buildings highlight a delicate harmony, a new Austin that couldn’t exist without the old and an old that would not be preserved without the outcomes of the present."

Lustre Pearl East will be open from 4 p.m. until midnight Monday and Tuesday and 11 a.m. until midnight on Wednesday through Sunday. Food service, guided by Executive Chef Carson Symmonds, includes a small selection of easy-eating fare sandwiches and salads. See food and drink menu here
