One of Austin's favorite campus-area watering holes has been brought back to life in East Austin. After closing in October of 2014, the Dog & Duck Pub has reopened in a new location on Webberville (near Gourmand's and The Lost Well.) The longtime campus-area bar served beer and pub food on 17th Street for over two decades, and owners Susan Forrester and Jeff McKillop are bringing that same English pub vibe to the new incarnation.
As reported by Eater Austin, the wooden floors from West 17th Street were reused in the walls, as were the tin ceiling, fireplace, the iconic dog and duck statue, and the original bar. Several familiar faces will return to work the bar, which will be open until midnight Sunday through Friday and 1 am on Saturday. There will be nearly 40 different beers available on tap, with a food menu featuring traditional British fare like fish and chips.
The restaurant will also be open for breakfast service at 7 am on weekdays and 10 am on weekends. You can find the new Dog & Duck Pub at 2400-A Webberville Rd. Via dogandduckpub.com:
"The Dog and Duck has been consistently recognized as one of the best place for chugs and chomps in Austin since we opened our doors in 1990. Our extensive beer selection is matched only by our menu, which features everything from pub classics to vegetarian selections. We have 33 beers on tap that will feature international as well as local beers. We have added a glass chiller to keep the beers that should be cold - COLD. With both inside and outside seating, we're a favorite destination for families, students, professionals, group gatherings, and everyone in between with a passion for big laughs, good drinks, and satisfying meals."
